The photo prep guide

Good photos.
A clearer starting point.

Choose one photo for a solo clip, or two separate photos for a Hotel Lobby duet. Get your references ready before you open the maker.

Look first. Upload later.

This page is a manual preparation guide. It does not inspect, upload or save photos, and it cannot predict a generated result. Your checklist stays in this page until you copy or download it.

One person or two?

Solo / one reference

One person in one photo

For Birthday, Friendly Roast or Solo Studio, pick one clear photo of the person who will appear. Keep the face easy to see instead of choosing a group picture.

Choose the original file, then check it at full size.

Hotel Lobby / two references

Two separate photos, one person in each

Prepare Photo A and Photo B separately. Check both faces—not just the sharper one. Keep track of which name belongs to which photo when filling in the maker.

You do not need to merge the photos into a collage.

Give the face room.

Compare your photo with these framing ideas. Choose a different original if the face is hidden or cut off; enlarging a blurry screenshot does not recover detail.

Original teaching illustrations. Not photographs, uploaded references or generated product results.

A useful starting point

Face visible, even light and a little space around the head. A simple background keeps the subject easy to pick out.

Choose a wider original

The head is cut off by the crop. Return to the original photo or choose another; do not stretch it to invent missing parts.

Keep eyes and mouth visible

A phone, hand or object hides facial features. Pick a photo without the obstruction rather than assuming the video will fix it.

Your take-away

Before you open
the maker.

Tick what you have checked yourself. A completed list means you reviewed the preparation steps; it is not approval of your photo or a guarantee of quality.

JPG, PNG or WebP · up to 10 MB per photo. Export HEIC/HEIF to a supported format first. Keep an unedited original and review the current requirements in the maker.

Which format are you preparing?

Changing the format resets your checks. Refreshing clears them too.

The template sets the rap.

The solo and Hotel Lobby templates covered here use their own four lines with names filled in. Lyrics written in the free text tool are not used in these videos. A photo is a reference, not a promise of exact appearance or motion.

Ready for the next step?

The links below open the MakeItRap video maker. Open a maker only when you are ready to upload. Review permissions, sign-in and current credit pricing there. This checklist does not send anything to the maker.

Other solo options: Friendly Roast or choose Solo Studio in the video maker.
